Welcome to the BOCC Youth Cricket Program!
BOCC Youth Cricket - Late Summer Programs
We are excited to offer two complementary programs for our young cricketers this late summer. Our first program is our usual six week, softer ball session program designed for young cricketers aged between 6 and 12. We are also adding a second program, which will be a one hour batting clinic for our more advanced players. This will take place immediately following the main youth session. The batting clinic will be capped at 6 players. If oversubscribed I will select the 6 players based on age, maturity and skill level.

90 Minute Youth Program
For those new to the program we run 90 minute sessions, on Saturday mornings from 8:30 to 10am. These sessions are catered for children, who have limited or no cricket experience, between the ages of 6 and 12 years old. The focus is on developing the fundamentals of cricket in a safe, fun environment in order to help the children develop a passion for cricket.
In batting we work on having a correct grip, a proper stance, hitting the ball to both sides of the wicket and most importantly watching the ball right onto the bat. Bowling is often a difficult technique to master, especially for younger players, so we focus on the mechanics of a correct bowling technique. Once the children are able to bowl with a correct action we then focus on helping them synchronize their approach, action and follow through to help improve accuracy and speed. In fielding we play many games to improve their catching and ground fielding, again focusing on good technique so that they can catch the ball more consistently and avoid getting hurt. All the instruction the players get is in the context of making sure they are engaged and having fun, so that they develop a love for the game and a desire to continue playing.
The cost is $150 for each six week program. There is a $20 discount for extra siblings and $20 referral discount if you help bring a new player to the program. To register for the Spring program please complete the form attached and then you can send payments with methods below.
Batting Clinic
The batting clinic will be a six week, one hour per session program designed to help young cricketers learn the fundamentals of batting. We will be focusing on making sure the players have the correct batting setup with emphasis on their grip, stance and head position. We will then work on making sure they are able to play both attacking and defensive shots on the front foot. Later in the program we will introduce back foot shots.
The clinic will take place in the nets at ECG. The program will be capped at 6 players so that the players get both individualized instruction and many opportunities. Ideally we will be using a hard ball so it is recommended that your child gets the appropriate equipment, however if you do not have equipment then your child can still participate, they will just use softer balls. All the players are expected to bring their own bat. The batting clinic is not designed for pure beginners, instead for players who have some experience but are looking to improve their technical skills with a view to playing competitively, so please keep that in mind when deciding to register.
The cost of the clinic will be $100 for the six week session. The sessions will run from 10am until 11am immediately following the main youth sessions.
